Me|thyl|bu|te|nol: Sammelbez. für acht isomere Alkohole, die sich von den drei Methylbutenen ableiten. 2-Methylbut-3-en-2-ol wirkt als Borkenkäferpheromon, u. 3-Methylbut-2-en-1-ol (Dimethylallylalkohol, Prenylalkohol, ↑ Prenol) u. 3-Methylbut-3-en-1-ol (Isopentenol) sind Schlüsselverb. bei der Isoprenoid-Biogenese.
